Staff reports

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The all-new community art exhibit and a seasonal installation of snowflakes created from recycled materials offer visitors to Price Center Galleries a colorful and inspired journey this holiday season.

Melted Recycled Glass Snowflake – Gerald Kurten

Nearly 60 artists from the region have chosen one or two of their favorite works for this new eclectic art exhibition featuring more than 90 works.

The gift or the art celebrates the ability of art to inform, transform and connect us. From traditional to offbeat subjects, media and techniques, this show offers a delightful look beyond traditional winter and holiday imagery.

Despite unusually warm temperatures for the season, it is possible to see snowflakes in San Marcos. The Centre’s latest community art collaboration has produced more than a dozen snowflake creations made from recycled materials. About fifteen local creators, including two children, created the ingenious crystal creations.

The gift of art and the unique snowflake installation hangs in all the Centre’s first-floor galleries until January 8. Many works are for sale and a portion of the proceeds support the Centre’s ongoing artistic endeavors.

Rotating art exhibits are created, organized, and directed by the Price Center Arts Committee and supported in part by a grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
