‘Hues of Blue’ art gallery exhibits sought-after pieces at Tibbits

From robin eggs to sparkling sapphires, from pretty peacocks to soothing seascapes, the color blue will take pride of place in Arts Alive’s upcoming art gallery “Hues of Blue”. The art group invites artists of all ages and skill levels to submit their interpretations of the themed show which will hang at the Tibbits Opera House from March to May.

While the gallery’s theme is “Hues of Blue”, it’s up to the artist to interpret exactly what the phrase means to them. Artists can submit up to three pieces at $5 per submission. Paintings, photographs or drawings should be ready to hang using a wire hanger. Sculpture or other mediums are also accepted and encouraged. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top performers based on audience votes. Artists can also sell their work on commission.

Arts Alive member Stephanie Burdick said, “I hope to get beautiful depictions of bluebirds, ocean scenes, floral works, or even abstract art. Usually our color shows attract a good amount and variety of artwork, as some artists need to set boundaries. Others will welcome the freedom and challenge of the show’s settings.

To be included in this art exhibit, artists must drop off all pieces at the Tibbits Administrative Office at 93 W. Chicago St by 5:00 p.m. March 7. “Hues of Blue” will be exhibited in the lower level art gallery of the historic Tibbits Opera House. , located at 14 S. Hanchett St. in Coldwater MI.

The art gallery currently features works by local artists who have submitted pieces for “Fur Babies”. In the winter, the art gallery is open for events at Tibbits and by appointment. There is no entrance fee for the gallery and visitors are encouraged to vote for Best of Show.

Gallery exhibitions rotate approximately every eight weeks. Plus a private exhibit this summer featuring local children’s author/illustrator Patricia Polacco and the annual Kids’ Art Rocks! student art competition in the spring, other themes for the 2022 gallery exhibitions include “America the Beautiful” and “Seasons of Love.” For more details on these exhibits or to get involved with Arts Alive, call Steph at Tibbits at 517-278-6029, email [email protected] or visit the Arts Alive Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Arts -Alive- Cold water.
