Lake District LOVERS have the unique opportunity to see their favorite view captured on canvas by one of Britain’s greatest ‘outdoor’ artists.

The Windermere Fine Art Gallery is offering the rare and remarkable chance to have a bespoke painting commissioned, worth up to £1,000.

This is to celebrate the opening of his highly anticipated ‘Lakeland Exhibition’ on June 1, with a stunning showcase of fine, contemporary art, featuring the Lake District, such as ‘Afternoon Sun In The Langdale Valley’ by renowned artist David Curtis, a senior member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI ) and Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA).

Now you can have your chosen view painted by an equally illustrious artist, such as Michael Ashcroft or other KING colleagues; Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA), which dates from 1859 and lists LS Lowry among its former members; and the famous group of painters Northern Boys, famous for their ‘en plein air’ work, which is exhibited at the Beech Street Gallery.

Matthew Titherington, owner of Windermere Fine Art Gallery, with his wife, Dawn, said: “We are offering an exceptionally rare and incredible chance to have your favorite view of Lakeland painted by one of our incredible award-winning artists.

“To enter, we’d just like to know your favorite view of Lakeland, why you love it, and what it means to you.”

The painting will be 16″ by 12″ framed and signed by the artist.

This is to celebrate the new exhibition, featuring breathtaking and inspiring images of the national park by leading national artists, which will run for a month until Thursday, June 30.

The mail:

It follows the success of the popular gallery “Back to Town” exhibition which has just ended. It displayed stunning images of well-known cityscapes for the first time, after leading artists captured cities springing to life after the deserted streets of the pandemic.

This will be the second in a series of major exhibitions at the gallery throughout 2022, part of a campaign to restore the Lake District to being widely recognized as a northern hub for the fine and contemporary art of high quality, rivaling the great galleries of the city. Contact the gallery for more information and to reserve a place at the opening night of the exhibition.

“We are thrilled to bring the award-winning work of all these nationally recognized artists to this must-see exhibition,” said Matthew. He and Dawn took over the gallery just over a year ago to start attracting more London-based art buyers and collectors to the Lake District for weekends and short breaks.

The gallery has been a champion of the ‘en plein air’ style of painting – which celebrates outdoor painting – by the distinguished group known as the Northern Boys, whose work frequently features in London’s top galleries.

Submissions can be made online, by post or in person to: [email protected] or Windermere Fine Art, Beech Street, Windermere, LA23 1ED. Tel: 015394 88665 or via the website at www.windermeregallery.co.uk. Closing date for entries is Friday, June 17
